The services offered by the Airport Research Center encompass all aspects of terminal planning. From evaluating existing facilities, to developing terminal layouts and operational concepts for efficient use of resources within the terminal (i.e. check-in, security controls, baggage check), our goal is to enhance the function of terminal buildings, guaranteeing long-term utilisation and preventing unnecessary investment costs.
In order to achieve the highest possible degree of accuracy, the Airport Research Center uses simulation tools to illustrate passenger flow and baggage handling systems. Thus an accurate description of the terminal environment is achieved, which can be used for further analysis. The Airport Research Center offers a variety of services with regard to terminal planning, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Architectural design and capacity analysis
- Productivity and functional analysis
- Evaluation of service quality
- Examination of alternative terminal layout concepts
- Simulation of terminal processes
- Development of alternative operational strategies
- Terminal facilities planning
- Architectural design
- Creation of CAD models (two and/or three dimensional)
- Presentation of results in virtual reality
