Introduction

Within the scope of the Master plan process at Cologne Bonn Airport a report on the night operations at Cologne Airport and a traffic forecast until 2020 with a perspective until 2030 was required.

Results

The forecast is based on an extensive analysis of the traffic structure at Cologne Bonn Airport and the competing airports in the region. In addition an origin-destination matrix has been set up to be able to model the traffic demand in the catchment area of Cologne Bonn Airport and to simulate the effect of new boundary conditions like changes in the ticket fares, number of offered flights at the airports competing with Cologne.
By this the traffic for 2020 can be modelled based on the demand forecast. Next to the forecast figures on the number of passengers the forecast includes the expected aircraft movements and a forecast flight schedule for a typical week in 2020. Based on the results for the year 2020 an outlook for the year 2030 has been developed.
